“Early in my career in emergency medicine, I became frustrated with the discrepancy of how patients are treated financially. There are working patients without insurance expected to pay the full load for their visit while in the next room, another patient on public assistance is covered and financed by taxes which we all pay. The Free Clinic of Medina County attempts to address this discrepancy. At times it feels like the little Dutch boy with his finger in the dike, trying to hold back the flood. This locally supported program is a prime example of a community helping its own who are in need.”
